The Anthony-Hamilton-Hunt American Legion Post 221, 357 Great Road, Bedford, MA is a not-for-profit community service organization committed and dedicated to developing mutual relationships with town-wide organizations in order to contribute to bettering the town of Bedford and especially to supporting local area veterans.
The Legion’s relationship with the community is a long one, and one that remains a very important one. The Executive Board works hard to ensure the post is seen as one of the leading community service providers in the town by participating in public local affairs, supporting the local Veteran’s Hospital, assisting and teaching children of Hanscom AFB as well as hosting POW/MIA days here in Bedford and leading Memorial day observances and Veterans Day events.
The Bedford American Legion Post 221 was formed just after WWII and currently has Legionnaire members, Sons-of-the-Legion members and Women’s Auxiliary members. The eight members of the Post Executive Board consist of not only experienced military personnel but also leaders of the community. The American Legion building itself was built in the early 1950’s and remains fully functional in hosting local groups for their activities to include other not for profit organizations such as Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and is the Headquarters for the Medical Chapter of the Yankee Division Veteran’s Association. A completely remodeled Function hall continues to be booked by local groups for a variety of events such as birthdays, reunions, dances, and weddings.
The Anthony-Hamilton-Hunt American Legion Post 221 is always looking for a Veteran to become a member of this post. Make it a point to stop in and see what you think. General body-membership meetings are held each month on the second Tuesday of the month at 7:00 PM downstairs in the club reserved for members.
